WE NEED YOUR HELP! As you are aware, Acworth Expanding Horizons Foundation received a community grant from NCRC. Part of their grant request included service project opportunities for NCRC. Let's talk about the foundation... WHO? Expanding Horizons Foundation WHAT DO THEY DO? They create a positive and supportive environment for local youth. Their mission provides educational assistance, recreational activities, mentorship and foster servant leadership. WHAT THEY NEED FROM US? Volunteers will help paint 3 indoor spaces that are used for After School programming for Acworth Youth. Paint and supplies will be provided by Expanding Horizons but NCRC members can bring any paint equipment you may have if you prefer to use it during the project. Walls are currently painted concrete block. Come join in on the fun and help the kids of the future! 18 | 19 8:30 City of Acworth hosts an MLK Day of Service on Martin Luther King Day NORTH COBB ROTARIANS are invited to attend the any time during the program. See event details below. --- Annually the City of Acworth hosts an MLK Day of Service on Martin Luther King Day. I wanted to invite North Cobb Rotary Club members who are available that day to join us in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King and also join us for service projects. Leading up to the event on January 19, we are partnering with Georgia Kids Belong and holding donation drives to support foster families in our community. Here are the details for the donation drives and ways NCRC members can help with. We will also have day of service projects. Family Fun Night Donation Drive: help families and foster kids feel at home by helping create family fun night kits!
Hygiene Kit Donation Drive: Personal hygiene kits are given to kids in the I Belong Project and to kids in foster care. These kits bless kids by giving them their own self care supplies.

Dr. Karen Kornweibel is Dean of the KSU Journey Honors College at Kennesaw State University. An educator and scholar, she is committed to the mission of public higher education and its power to transform students’ lives while strengthening communities. Dr. Kornweibel has extensive experience leading and developing honors programs, with a focus on innovative teaching, experiential learning, and close faculty-student engagement. Her work in honors education emphasizes preparing students to become thoughtful, informed citizens equipped to address complex global challenges. She holds a bachelor’s degree in general literature from the University of California, San Diego, and earned both a master’s degree and a doctorate in comparative literature from the University of Texas at Austin. | 30 | 31 |
