Server/caller can be the same person. | 8 7:15 Regular Meeting - Pam Godfrey Younker - Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation Pam Godfrey Younker is responsible for Community Development in for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. She joined Children’s in January 2013 after 10 years as Vice President Corporate Services for Engineering Design Technologies, Inc. She previously owned Pam Younker Accounting and Tax Service and was Senior Internal Auditor for Lockheed. Pam's career began at Oxford Industries, Inc. after she graduated from the University of Georgia, with a degree in Accounting. Having grown up in McCaysville, Georgia, Pam loves the north Georgia mountains.
Pam serves nationally as an Air and Space Forces Civic Leader, under the direction of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and the Secretary of the Air Force. Pam has also been involved in the local community for many years. She chaired the Honorary Commanders Program for the Cobb Chamber of Commerce for 3 years and is a graduate of Leadership Cobb, where she has chaired and participated in many committees. Currently, Pam is co-chair of Team Dobbins, an initiative to assist community involvement with our local military. She is an active participant in Atlanta Regional Affairs Military Council, Cobb Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Cobb Sheriff’s Foundation Board of Directors, Cobb 2020 Steering Committee, Town Center CID Advisory Board, Victoria's Friends Ministry, and Burnt Hickory Baptist Church.
Pam has been the recipient of many awards, a few which include – Outstanding Alumnus of the Terry College of Business for the University of Georgia; Alpha Chi Omega Real Strong Women of Distinction Award; “Best of the Best” Award for Dobbins Air Reserve Base; Marietta, Georgia Citizen of the Year; MUST Ministry Servant of the Year; YWCA Woman of Tribute.
Pam is married to Ron Younker. They met at the University of Georgia, where Ron was Drum Major, and Pam was a member of the Georgette Drill Team. Ron is formerly of Southern Company, and was Vice President of Human Resources for Cobb EMC. He now owns Younker and Associates, a leadership development company. Pam and Ron have 2 grown sons, David and John. David is an attorney in Marietta, and is married to the former Katy Hansen of Jacksonville, Florida. David and Katy have 2 children, Sevy, 8, and William, 6. Pam and Ron’s younger son, John, is a veterinarian in Atlanta, and he is married to the former Sarah Stokes, of Warner Robins, Nurse Educator for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Healthcare. John and Sarah, have a 6 year old daughter, Josie Mae, and 2 year old son, Caleb.
Pam’s job with Children’s Healthcare keeps her very busy. In her spare time, Pam likes to spend time with family and friends. She also has enjoys mentoring young people and working with all branches of the military. 7p Volunteer: Acworth P&R Horizon League Softball Buddy NCRC has committed to being Horizon League buddies on September 8 for two games - 7 pm and 8 pm. Ten buddies are needed. Acworth Sports Complex, 4000 South Main St, Acworth, GA 30101. The Horizon League provides children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities the opportunity to participate in athletic events, develop lasting relationships among their peers, coaches, and parents and demonstrate to them that they are an important part of their community by creating an environment of inclusion for both the participants and their families. Games are non-competitive and each player on the roster gets on base before the opposing team gets to bat. Plan on 40 people eating. | 14 | 15 7:15 Regular Meeting - Judge Rob Leonard - Judge, Cobb Superior Court Chief Judge Rob Leonard, was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal to the Superior Court of Cobb County in November of 2012, and has been elected to that position twice following his appointment. Immediately preceding that, Judge Leonard was serving on the bench in the State Court of Cobb County. He was appointed to that position by Governor Sonny Perdue in 2010 and was elected to retain that position.
Prior to taking the bench, Judge Leonard maintained his law practice in Marietta where he represented a diverse array of citizens on many types of civil and criminal matters. Judge Leonard has been a recipient of the prestigious Justice Robert Benham Award for community service. He has recognized with the “President’s Award” from both the Cobb Bar and GACDL. He has received an award for “Distinguished Judicial Service” from the State Bar’s young Lawyers Division and the “Thomas Charron Public Service Award” for his work helping to guide the judiciary through the pandemic and in training judges across Georgia on best practices for conducting remote proceedings. Judge Leonard was recognized as a “Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Star” for three consecutive years, from 2009 to 2011. He was the 2006 recipient of the “Ross Adams Award” given out by the Cobb County Bar Association. In 2009, he won the “Greatest Trial Victory of the Year” award from a group of prominent defense lawyers. Judge Leonard was featured in Cobb Life’s 2013 edition of the “Top 20 Under 40” and the Daily Report’s “40 Under 40” publications.
Judge Leonard served on the Board of Directors for the Tommy Nobis Center for 14 years, advocating to remove barriers and provide job training and placement for people with disabilities. He also served on the Board of the Leadership Cobb Alumni Association and is an alumnus of the Leadership Cobb Class of 2013. He is also a member of the 2022 Honorary Commanders class.
He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Kentucky. Judge Leonard and his wife live in Marietta. Proceeds benefit the Kennesaw Public Safety Foundation and the Acworth Police Community Foundation. These charities each provide support to public safety employees in need and work to build relationships between public safety and their communities. The ride will begin at 10:30am from Henssler Financial- 3735 Cherokee St NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. The route proceeds north to Cartersville, east to Jasper, and back down to Cobb County. It will be an estimated 4 hours long, including a stop for lunch. There will be a tailgate finale event at Henssler Financial upon the riders’ return, including food, drinks, raffles, and more. |
