Pad a Girl to Keep Girls in School

For the second year, the Rotary Club of North Cobb and the Rotary Club of Umudike Central, Nigeria have teamed up to create the "Pad a Girl" Project.  Hundreds of girls in 5 high schools were educated on the importance and practice of menstrual hygiene and given packages of 10 reusable sanitary pads.

Girls in Nigeria with limited resources who reach menstrual age often miss a week of school each month.   This causes them to fall behind in their studies and makes it much more difficult for them to graduate.  Research shows that girls who graduate high school are far more likely to marry well and raise their own children to graduate school.  So this project has far-reaching future benefits!

North Cobb is proud of this important collaboration!
